Perfect Hideaways brings you the best self catering beach accommodation, farm and mountain rentals in South Africa and beyond. It promises you an unforgettable stay in a luxury home environment – in some of our country’s most cherished places.

They bring you only the best places that ooze personality, situated in spectacular locations. Feel comfortable, relaxed and experience an unforgettable escape. We’ve rounded up five of our favourite local (and one international) hideaways that are dream honeymoon destinations.

Seagull Cottage, Churchhaven, West Coast

Seagull Cottage Churchhaven, West Coast

Close to the beach and with sweeping views of Churchhaven’s beautiful blue lagoon, Seagull Cottage is a much loved beach cottage full of quaint vintage treasures. It has a very laid-back East African influence – the only shoes you’ll want to put on are your Havianas and a kikoi (Kenyan sarong).

Spend your days on the terrace gazing at the lagoon, watching the sailing, paddling and fishing; alternatively, take long walks in the reserve or explore by bicycle.

The Cape West Coast, with its colours, fynbos and solitude just an hour from Cape Town, is a local secret haven away from the madness of busy lifestyles. What a tranquil place to escape to.

The Love Pad, Clifton First Beach

Clifton-love-pad

The Love Pad, although being on Clifton First, is totally private with sumptuous views of the Atlantic, Bantry Bay and all four Clifton beaches. The apartment is close to shops, restaurants and a MyCiti bus stop – but secluded enough to escape for days on end.

Light and modern with a slight African feel, it is double volume with a bedroom on the upper level which opens up for views of the sea. Watch the dolphins whilst lazing in bed!

Sorbet, Simon’s Town

Sorbet-Simonstown

Revitalise your spirits and mellow into your honeymoon in this gorgeous clapboard beach cottage, decorated with an eclectic mix of nautical blue stripes and fresh English florals. Enjoy early morning swims before breakfast, picnics on the beach and idyllic lazy summer days and warm cosy winters with the fireplace burning. It is a fresh combination of beautiful pieces that the owner has collected over the years reflecting her love of vintage, antiques, quirky pictures and silverware.

Explore Simon’s Town with its huddle of shops and restaurants by day, or in the evenings open all the shutters and watch the light of the moon catch the ocean. You really will be hard pressed to leave!

India House, Bainskloof Pass

Farmhouse-Bainskloof

India House nestles in the Bastiaanskloof valley, part of the UNESCO Boland Mountain World Heritage Site, an hour and a half from Cape Town. So named because of its beautiful turquoise front door, imported from Gujarat, India, India House offers a luxurious farmland retreat.

India House has a state of the art French oak panelled kitchen, fully equipped to cool your wine and perk you up with espressos and cappuccinos, a massive fireplace and sheltered courtyard for alfresco dining. Guests can experience total silence except for the frogs and the crickets.

Amenities include a swimming pool with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, hiking trails (one with a waterfall shower and traces of khoisan art), secluded river pools for summer swimming and bicycles for exploring the 2500 hectare estate. The formal gardens are planted with indigenous fynbos species, many of which are endemic to the area. Or if you are more of a relaxation fiend, curl up with one of the house library’s many novels or cookbooks.

La maison d’un Cypres, Provence, France

Provence-France

La maison d’un Cypres (House of one Cypress), Le Puget is one of a row of ancient stone houses in a valley just north of the picturesque town of Uzes. This house is unique, but to be clear, it takes a while to orientate oneself as it is somewhat higgledepiggledy – but of course, that is one of it’s charms. It is one of the original ancient stone houses in Le Puget with its thick walls, fireplaces and hidden rooms.

As well as being quirky, individual and a teeny bit wonky, it has top of the range amenities in the kitchen and dining room, plus a small TV and DVD player. Spend your days browsing markets, sipping Italian espresso and exploring the town, or relax at home, reading a book in the small courtyard.
