Experience utter romance on your honeymoon at Kings Walden

By  |  0 Comments

The romantic Kings Walden boasts the kind of views that make falling – and staying – in love easy. In the 1930s, a young woman was so taken with the spectacular views of the nearby mountains that she expressed a wish to stay forever. The young man standing next to her, who also happened to be the owner, immediately proposed. Many years later, on the night the woman died, lightning struck the big bluegum tree at the vantage point where the proposal took place. It still stands there today, dramatic and bone-white.

This stunning venue lies amongst the mountains of Limpopo, creating a magical fortress for you and your loved one to explore. The manor is over a century old and has an old country charm that is both welcoming and homey.

The home boasts six luxury rooms complete with their own fireplaces and bathtubs spacious enough for two. Spend your time relaxing in front of a warm fire in cooler months, or enjoy the relaxing mountain backdrop from your garden during summer. The mix of modern and traditional African decor will have you feeling completely at ease.

When it comes to cuisine, there’s no holding back at Kings Walden. Everything is prepared by their very own chef Billy McKechnie and his staff. From a marvellous breakfast with a view to romantic dining by candlelight, you’ll find it all.

Just off the bedrooms lies a luxurious pool for guests to enjoy, and if you walk a little further, you’ll be able to explore the full well-kept garden. With stunning features and plenty of blooms, it’s the perfect place for a romantic stroll with your partner.

While you’re in the area, be sure to check out the Sunland ‘Big Baobab’ in Modjadjiskloof. More than 1 700 years old, this is reputed to be the widest baobab in the world. The tree is so big, you can go for a drink inside it at the Baobab Tree Bar. You’ll also be able to take part in various adventurous activities like the Magoebaskloof Canopy Tour, quad biking, wall climbing, hiking, canyoning and paintballing.
