As simple and beautiful as love itself, Catherine and Ritchie Smith’s nuptials were a small and intimate affair in the heart of the Klein Karoo.

The dress

My gown was beautiful! It was from the Enzoani Collection at Bridal Wardrobe in Melrose Arch.

The theme & decor

Our wedding was inspired by the Karoo and the beauty of the bush. My bouquet consisted of succulents and we incorporated rich textures and colours. Everything was beautiful yet still simplistic.

The cake & food

Our cake was made by Bosch Luys Kloof’s Head Chef. Since wedding cakes are often not eaten at the event, the idea behind our cake was that it would be served as dessert instead. We combined our favourite flavours – caramel cheesecake, chocolate cake and chocolate brownies – into little three-tiered creations.

Our food was also inspired by the setting. Since we love good, homey comfort food, we decided to serve lamb with mustard mashed potato and roasted vegetables as mains – yum!

The venue

As you may have guessed, we love the outdoors so Bosch Luys Kloof Private Game Reserve in the Klein Karoo was an obvious choice. It’s a real hidden gem and our pictures do not do it justice.
