5 Tips from a florist

By  |  0 Comments

With a passion for flowers – and everything that grows from soil – Fleur le Cordeur pride themselves on using nature’s gifts to bless people on their special occasions.

Creative founder Heike le Cordeur is particularly passionate about weddings. ‘There’s no better feeling than sharing part of this journey with a couple, to see their excitement on the day and witness their love,’ she says. ‘We’re completely consumed with passion for this ancient ritual.’

In fact, Heike loves weddings so much that she let Wedding Album in on her top tips for choosing bridal floral arrangements.

1 Choose your florist wisely – then trust them

Often brides want all the control of their big day, which is understandable. However, trust that the florist is an expert in their field and will design something unique and special for you.

2 Quality trumps quantity

Old but true. If you spend your money on good-quality flowers, you’ll be able to have fewer that make a statement rather than loads of arrangements that look inexpensive and tacky.

3 Embrace your greens

Used correctly, green foliage will not only save you money but add an interesting element to your decor or bouquet. Opt for greenery with some texture to create a fresh look.

4 Give your florist something to work with

Discuss your theme, colour scheme and overall look and feel with your florist in detail – but don’t get hung up on the exact colour or variety. Flowers aren’t manufactured in laboratories and colours change from season to season, while different varietals depend on availability and time of year. If you’re not too specific, you’ll avoid disappointment and may even fall in love with the creations made by your florist.

5 Place your flowers strategically

It may seem odd but where you place your floral arrangement –  at both the ceremony and reception – makes a big impact. It’s best not to compete with nature so opt for simple arrangements if your wedding is outdoors or use the same flowers along the pews at the church and on the tables at the reception.
