A T-Rex, a chuppah and a lot of authenticity – Ruth and Jon Riordan’s special day in the Paardeberg was a day to remember.

The dress

My beautiful flowing gown suited our country-style wedding perfectly!

The theme & decor

For us, it was all about simplicity and the deep connection with our friends and family. Our finishing touches included custom-made T-Rex pins for the groom and groomsmen – a debate we had when we first met around the merits of having a T-Rex as a pet. We also created a personal chuppah complete with flowers and lace from my grandmother and a special fingerprint tree we made, which I sketched and then had all the guests add leaves with their fingerprints using coloured ink pads. We now have this beautiful keepsake hanging in our home.

Ruth & Jon The food

The food and wine was heartwarming yet elegant dishes. We also served kitkes and at the start of the reception, we broke bread together following the Jewish Shabbat tradition. The merriment continued with an amazing party on the dance floor that included dancing the hora!

The venue

The backdrop of Fynbos Estate created a relaxed, fun and welcoming atmosphere for a full weekend of all things wedding, including a braai. We opted for an outdoor ceremony beneath the shady oak trees in the farmhouse garden and garden games kept the kids (and adults!) entertained.

The details

We had a custom wine box made with our little wedding ‘logo’. Before the ceremony, our friends and family were asked to write on little wish cards and these were locked inside the box with our favourite wines during the ceremony – only to be opened on our one-year anniversary.
