Real wedding: Samantha & Dean owning the night

Samantha Allenberg and Dean ‘Fuel’ Fuller gathered friends and family in Plett for a weekend of marital celebrations.

THE VENUE

We got married at Plettenberg Park Hotel & Spa. We loved the venue – it has the most incredible, dramatic views, as it’s situated high on a cliff overlooking the rocks and sea below. We knew it would be romantic and memorable – no matter the weather!

THE THEME

Overall, we really wanted a destination wedding built into a long-weekend getaway for both us and our guests. An intimate wedding day, surrounded by all our family and friends in an epic and dramatic setting, was the order of the day. A heartfelt and relaxed ceremony, coupled with good food and drinks, great music, and a wild all-night party – we had it all!

THE DRESS

Our dress code for guests was black tie in strictly black, so my dress needed to be white to stand out, and dramatic to suit the venue. I found it at Pronovias and the experience of getting it was simply amazing. The team there know how to make you feel special and beautiful, and they really listen to what you want.

THE DECOR

We were keen on an all-white theme with a touch of black and gold. Simple and classic, but with fun, sentimental elements (for example, ceramic bunnies on the main table for Dean’s nickname for me, ‘Bunni’). The real goal was for everything to be simple, clean and minimal, without coming across too cold or clinical. Fairy lights, candles and assorted white flowers helped to soften the mood a bit.

THE FOOD

We decided to go ‘feast-style’, served to each table so the guests could plate up for themselves. We had salmon, vegetable curry and lamb chops, with sambals and sides – simple but delicious. We also served midnight munchies of hot dogs and burgers, with a sweets table for guests to snack on through the night.

THE FIRST DANCE

Dean made a special bootleg edit of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’ and ‘Got To Give It Up’. ‘Let’s Get It On’ is one of the greatest, sexiest love songs ever, and the other is a favourite party tune of ours.
