Chrystalace Wedding Stationery is a Pretoria-based bespoke stationery company that specialises in custom-designed wedding invitations and stationery. Jolindi van der Merwe and Lezanne Wessels are passionate about design, paper and perfect finishing. ‘From quirky and fun to classic and modern, we take pride in covering a broad spectrum of styles, themes and personalities to best represent a couple on their wedding day,’ says Jolindi, owner and managing director at Chrystalace.

‘We explore each couple’s unique style, using it as a starting point for the stationery design, translating it into ‘you-ness’,’ she continues. ‘We are passionate about each couple’s dream day and the intrigue that their personality holds. It is our firm belief that design is a wonderful medium that allows a couple’s unique dreams to come to life on paper or even in digital format.’

‘We handpick our suppliers and take special care in selecting the best paper stock, fine art printing and quality finishing to provide each couple with a professional, quality product.’

Chrystalace caters for a range of tastes and styles. Whether you prefer a low-key sense of simplicity or the luxury of extravagance, Jolindi and Lezanne strive to materialise it.

Part of Studio on Club, a creative hub of like-minded companies specialising in weddings, events and corporate branding, Chrystalace is based in Pretoria but works with brides both abroad and countrywide.

‘One of the trends we absolutely love is floral or botanical inspired stationery,’ says Jolindi. ‘In the past we have combined vintage florals with bold and bright text to achieve contrast, appealing to a fresh, modern bride. For couples with a more romantic side, we’ve printed stationery designs on translucent pockets with a hot foiled finishing.

‘For something more natural, use leafy wreaths with a classic monogram for a simple and sophisticated feel.

‘Another trend at the moment is water colour inspired designs that you can use in conjunction with florals, from pastel romantic themes to heritage inspired stationery, or for the more elegant and glamorous individual it can be combined with shimmery gold touches.’

Finally, WA asked what couples should keep in mind when designing their own wedding stationery.

‘When it comes to stationery design I would say that the most important rule is that consistency is key. Take your idea/theme/trend and make sure it is reflected in all the elements of your stationery, from your invitation to your on the day stationery items. A rule that is applicable to every aspect of your wedding planning.’
