5 wedding planning digital tools you need to be using

There’s no doubt technology makes life easier. Ordering food. Hailing a taxi. Booking accommodation. And believe it or not, wedding planning too. We’ve compiled a handy list of digital tools that you may not have heard about to make planning your wedding that much easier.

1. WHAT’S YOUR WEDQ

WedQ was started by local wedding planner Andrea Brand as a way to support brides who want to plan their own wedding, but appreciate the advice of a seasoned professional. Couples can sign up, buy credits and select a wedding planner from anywhere in South Africa. Two credits get you one hour of Skype time with your planner, who will recommend suppliers, help with viewing/securing a venue, and make sure you haven’t missed a thing. Best of all, it’s far more affordable than a traditional wedding coordinator.

2. PAPERLESS POST

Printed stationery is expensive to produce and can be difficult to deliver. Paperless Post is a platform that allows you to choose from an extensive range of beautifully designed invitations – everything from the engagement party and save-the-date, to the actual wedding invitation and thank-you card. You’re able to customise each of these – the wording, colour palette, font, text size and even the envelope lining – and send through the platform for a small fee. From there, you can track RSVPs, and message guests who haven’t responded. Invitees love it too because they can add the event to their calendar directly from the invite.

3. TAKE A SEAT

Ask any married couple and chances are the seating plan was one of their worst wedding-related tasks. AllSeated is a free tool that lets you map floor plans to scale, plus seating and timing plans, and even see a 3D view. What’s great is that once you have created your floor plan and guest list, you can easily allocate each guest to their seat, and because everything is hosted in the cloud, you can share it with your suppliers in real time. This will come in handy if a guest cancels at the last minute.

4. ALL HAIL THE APPY COUPLE

Appy Couple is a platform that consolidates all your wedding-planning needs across friends, family and suppliers into one package. It lets you manage your guest list, send invites, track RSVPs, share your itinerary, accommodation and pics, and more. You can access it on any device, and guests can view and get involved.

5. GET ON THE ‘GRAM

Use Instagram to do all the hard collating work for you by searching for inspiration within their top wedding hashtags: #Weddingphotography, #Weddingphotographer, #Photo, #Engagement, #Engaged, #Portrait and #Family. You will be able to scroll through wedding photographers’ images and maybe even find your big-day photographer!
